Counting more than ten Riva boats skimming across Lake Como towards the Villa d'Este swimming pool pontoon; Ian was once again surrounded by some of the world's finest cars.
He was supporting Nigel and Sarah with their beautiful 1959 250 LWB California Spyder; invited to this years event as part of the very fitting "From St. Tropez to Portofino" class.
With a truly eye watering collection of cars on display including prototypes, significant race cars and a celebration of 100 years of Maserati, the standard of cars was regarded as one of the best ever.
Reminiscent of a scene from Breakfast at Tiffanys, Sarah drove the car onto the stage looking elegantly chic in head scarf and sunglasses; the assembled crowd and judges rose to their feet, applauding as they awarded her the Best in Class award. A very proud moment indeed.
It was also great to see Norman Dewis, the original Jaguar test driver reunited with the speed record XK120 driving along the lawn.
