Whilst chatting in the workshop recently it was discussed that to be a true petrol head and work in this industry you should have at least one project car, weekend car or ‘toy’ on the go. This prompted a lively discussion about what the Barkaways team drive and work on when not working on our customer’s Ferraris and here is a summary:
Ian – Ferrari 308 GTS - has been promising to restore it for years! Ben – Fiat Abarth weekend car and a petrol engine scooter – which has got casualty written all over it!Spencer – 1965 Split screen camper van - owned since 1998, and used for regular camping trips and concours shows (he also owns something called a Ferrari testarossa!).Ian T – Lotus 7 inspired kit car - long ongoing race car project build now 3 years in and nearly finished!Chris P – 1965 Ford Mustang - it is actually the wedding present he gave to his wife!Matt – Ford Focus RS mk1 - used in the summer but kept mint with the miles down!Carl – 1985 Ford Escort series 1 RS Turbo - owned for 15 years but currently off the road and undergoing some jobs to recommission it.Graham – 1968 1275 GT Mini with a 1380 stage 3 race engine - previously Mini World magazine featured project car that will be used as a track and show car when finished. Mike – Honda Civic project - an engine swapped track car with an endless to do list! Richard – G40 supercharged Polo track car - has a blown gearbox from a track day, and has since turned into an ongoing project with a long list of jobs! Rob – Fiat Coupe LE 2litre 20 valve turbo - a long ongoing full restoration that he has owned for over 7 years. Chris B – Lupo GTI - owned from new and runs everyday.Helen – Mazda MX5 – “it looks cool in the sunshine!”Martin – BMW F700GS motorbike - purely for pleasure and taken on road trips around the country and abroad!
We also discovered there is an assortment of engine powered remote control cars, and we think this proves without a doubt that the team at Barkaways repairing and restoring your cars are true petrol heads!
