Daytona GTB Restoration - September & October 2012
During September and October work has continued with the engine. We have removed the front cover and timing chain assemblies, sump oil and scavenge pump. This has enabled us to inspect the crankshaft and bottom end of the engine.
There is a lot of sediment build up in the water jacket of the block. With regard to the cylinder heads we have broken an exhaust valve to establish whether it is the sodium filled type and can confirm it was not. We will overhaul the water pump keeping the original housing.
As the various components are cleaned and overhauled reassembly of the engine can commence.
