A big thank you to all those who came along to our Open Day on Saturday. The sun shone, the cars came, and we enjoyed a Barkaways gathering once again. This year we wanted to do something for a young man who we found inspirational as we learnt his story and watched his progress, over the last two years.
Tony was mistreated as a baby by his birth parents and suffered life-changing injuries at only weeks old, but with his amazing adoptive parents Mark and Paula he has flourished emotionally and physically and is now an engaging, brave and optimistic young man. We watched his progress as he learnt to walk on his artificial legs during the pandemic and there is no doubt, seeing how quickly he got around Barkaways on Saturday, that he has mastered them!
They were originally raising money for the Evelina London Hospital who saved his life, and now they want to raise funds to enhance the lives of children who have been abused, through the Tony Hudgell Foundation. We would like to thank all those who donated on the day, for their generosity. By the smiles in these photos, I think we can say Tony enjoyed his day and will now have the memories of the day he spent at Barkaways and saw some amazing cars.
Many thanks to John for showing and starting the F1 Benetton, Bill for putting the sparkle back in our jewellery, Abigail for the beautiful music, Spencer for the clever magic and our hardworking team at Barkaways, assisted by our family and friends, for putting on such a special day.
