Barkaways can now present for sale this 1960 Maserati 3500 GT Coupé, previously subject to a bare-metal restoration and in it's original colour combination of Beige Metallizzato with a black leather interior.
This left-hand drive example produced in August, 1960, was delivered new in Chiasso, Switzerland and comes with Maserati Classiche certification - confirming the correct chassis, engine and body numbers, as well as a FIVA Identity Card.
The 3500 GT was Maserati's first road car built in ‘large’ numbers after withdrawing from race car production in 1957, with 937 GTs being produced in total. It's 3.5 litre straight six engine was therefore derived from the Maserati 350S endurance race car - this early example complete with triple Weber carbs and a 4-speed gearbox. The elegant design was the creation of coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring.
The car spent a significant part of its life in the USA before returning to Europe in 2018, where it underwent a restoration. Only 42,633 kilometres are showing on the odometer, which is believed to be original. It is now sitting on a set of period Borrani wire wheels, with a spare included.
A highly original example with an incredible colour-scheme, featuring period-correct details like the Jaeger instrumentation and Blaupunkt radio, make this 3500 GT a excellent opportunity to acquire one of Maserati's most iconic road cars.
