The Ferrari 250 GT series of cars were launched at the 1962 Paris Auto Show and produced in a variety of models - from the out-and-out racing GTO, the short wheelbase (SWB) and the GT Lusso, Italian for luxury. 350 of the GT Lusso were produced in total, this car delivered new on June 24 1964 to the Paris Representatives, Messrs. Franco Britannic Autos Ltd., Levallois Perret/Seine. One of the last produced in 1964 and first registered with diplomatic plates, it stayed in Paris for most of its life before the current custodian acquired the car from a private collection in 2009 and imported it to the UK.
Following Ian himself personally collecting the car from Paris, it was decided to carry out a cosmetic restoration to bring it up to Concours standard, stripping the body back to bare metal and repainting it. The 'Lusso' was confirmed to be an exceptional find with original matching body and trim numbers which were recorded in the photographic documentation of the work. Multiple concours events have since been attended in the 250, including Salon Privé, Ferrari Owners' Club Concours and The Hurlingham Club Concours d'Elégance where the car achieved 'Best of Show'.
Included is a thorough and extensive history file with multiple folders covering the car's time in Paris, magazine features and restoration work undertaken since being in the UK. The original roll of tools, owner's manual and warranty card are also present along with assembly data sheets, sales brochure and the Ferrari Classiche red book certifying the car's authenticity.
In 2018 the decision was made to carry out a full engine rebuild on the 3-litre Colombo V12, which has covered under 1000 km since. Having recently been in storage with us, we have put fresh fuel in and inspected the car prior to sale. This is a unique opportunity to own what is surely one of the finest classic Ferrari's styled by Pininfarina, with the cherished registration 'GTL 250B' also included.
