Daytona GTB/4 Restoration - January 2013
During Dec and Jan we have completed the fabrication of the new floor outriggers. The corroded ones on the car have been cut out. The chassis has been ground, and cleaned and new outrigger box sections welded into place. The rest of the chassis has been sanded and cleaned as required and areas of corrosion ground back. The complete chassis has then been treated with metal primer and spray under coat. The top coat black will be applied after the majority of the bodywork is completed to prevent unnecessary contamination.
The doors and boot panels have been sent away for specialist media blasting.
The cylinder heads have been aluminium welded in some areas of the gasket surfaces due to corrosion holes and then been machined flat.
We have hand stripped all of the paint and filler and are now back to bare metal in most areas. The next area of this project is to address is cutting out and remaking part panels in the door sill and wheel arches due to slight corrosion.
