Maranello Factory Tour
Ian and Ben went on the Ferrari Owners Club factory tour in October, joining Gary Dearn and a group of 16 others FOC members
An early flight from Heathrow started the adventure, and on arrival in Bologna the first stop was a traditional Osteria for lunch followed by a tour of a balsamic vinegar production facility, followed by the Schedoni factory where the custom Ferrari luggage is made. At the time of the visit it was great to see the LaFerrari luggage being made.
On the second day they went around the Ferrari factory seeing how the cars are assembled. They bumped into Keith Bluemel, the Ferrari historian and friend of Barkaways. They also visited the Galleria museum, the Stanguellini collection and Casa Enzo Ferrari in Modena, where they saw the 250 and 288 GTO, F50 and other great super cars.
They both came back well fed with pasta and particularly enjoyed the Montana restaurant, a favourite spot for the Ferrari Scuderia race team. It is a requirement of these trips that you are at least 18 years old and Ben described the trip as 'well worth the wait!'
Ian and Ben would like to thank Gary and the FOC for organising this trip.
