Spring Open Day 2013
Saturday 13th April saw the 3rd open day held at Barkaways Ferrari.
Despite the lack of Spring sunshine we were amazed by the turnout of over 150 guests joining us. It was great to see some familiar faces as well as lots of new faces.
The Surrey FOC contingency were the first to arrive, having met at Clacket Lane services to come in a convoy.
We really appreciate all the support from the FOC area managers and members on our event days.
As well as celebrating the start of Spring we took the opportunity to celebrate the grand opening of our new paint and body workshop. The occasion was marked by the cutting of a ribbon by the oldest and youngest member of the Barkaways family - Ann and Gemma; Ian's mother and daughter.
We were also joined on the day by Rob Tomlin from Supercar Detailing, demonstrating his bespoke car detailing service.
On display were some amazing canvas prints by Mike at www.photocar.co.uk
The Racing Party Bus - www.racingpartybus.com added an element of excitement to the day. Kids young and old took to the bus in head to head racing battles on the world's Grand Prix circuits.
It appears these days that it's not the draw of the Ferrari and the Barkaways workshop that pulls in the crowds but the promise of a Pork pie and Sausage roll buffet. Yet again an amazing spread was put on by Ian's family, which has become custom, included delicious handcrafted pies supplied by Ian's Cousin A J Barkaways, master butcher - www.ajbarkaway.co.uk.
We had some stunning photographs taken on the day by David Jenner and Dave Marsh. To see more of their beautiful photography, visit www.davidjenner.co.uk and www.mbcre8.co.uk respectively.
A twist at the end of the day was when staff and family turned the open day into a surprise birthday celebration for Ian's pending landmark birthday. Ian would like to thank everyone who joined us on the open day and for those that were around to enjoy a glass of bubbly for his birthday surprise.
